Feature on NPR’s ‘The Hidden World of Girls’

I was recently asked to do an interview for the awesome new NPR multimedia series ‘The Hidden World of Girls.’ The series is produced by Davia Nelson & Nikki Silva, aka ‘The Kitchen Sisters,’ and features stories of “coming of age, rituals and rites of passage, secret identities—of women who crossed a line, blazed a trail, or changed the tide.”  Needless to say, I am honored to be a part of this amazing site!

In addition to the interview, they asked me to talk about ten of my favorite female musicians, for their blog/playlist ‘Girls on Your Turntable.’  My playlist is pretty badass, if I do say so myself!!  I had a blast working on it.

Check out the interview and listen to my ‘Turntable’ playlist HERE!

And a HUGE thank you to the ‘Kitchen Sister’ writer Patty Fung for making it happen!

True Lemon Tour Sponsorship!!

I am super excited to announce that “The Great VW Camper Van Tour” has just become The Great VW Camper Van “LIVE TRUE TOUR” thanks to a tour sponsorship from True Lemon!   For those of you who don’t already know, True Lemon is a 100% natural product: cold-pressed and crystallized lemon, lime and orange for water, teas and recipes.  I became obsessed with it this past fall and winter when I was still at my desk job and fighting the New York City winter colds.  I would keep the packets in my purse and use it in my tea.  Now I use it all the time on the road to stay hydrated and try to keep body and voice healthy for constant travel and singing night after night!  Thankfully, True Lemon is now at Walmart so it’s easy to find!

True Lemon’s mantra is ‘Live True’ and they strive to help people live their truest, fullest, and healthiest life.  I am thrilled that they have chosen to help keep our VW Camper Van on the road by sponsoring this adventure we are on to live our truest lives.  Please FRIEND, FOLLOW and CHECK OUT this amazing company who supports independent music!

If you’re on Twitter, please help me thank @truelemon for supporting the @kelleymcrae LIVE TRUE TOUR!

Wim Wenders, Kelley McRae fan!

In an interview in Sunday's San Francisco Chronicle, acclaimed German filmmaker Wim Wenders was asked about life, film and music.  This is what he had to say about Kelley McRae:

Q: When was the last time a work of art (music, film, painting, etc.) made you cry?

A: I saw a great Paul Klee exhibition not long ago. ... The last songs that made me cry were by a young New York singer, Kelley McRae. One was called "Time," and the other one "Break Us."
